A Few of My Favorite Things

My girls gave some very special presents for Christmas this year. Had to share....

RJ2 is very proud of her birdhouse. She doesn't like to color, but she does like to paint (and glue, apparently!).

CJ got so frustrated toward Christmas because she couldn't come up with a gift for me. After a knockdown/drag-out with me (long since forgotten now), she managed to create "the perfect gift."

"If your kids ever said something bad about yourself, look at this board to make you feel better." (Funny how she managed to come up with this after our spat....)

"Your hair looks so pretty and shiny." (If only it DID look like this....)

"You are a great blogger." ("And why haven't you posted any of my stuff lately?!")

"I have never known anyone with a bigger love of coffee than you AND THAT IS A COMPLIMENT!" (It is?!....Cool!)

"You are great at playing bells."
"You are so good at baking."
"Your gardening is awesome!"

Doesn't everyone need a Bad Day Board? It's even on brown recycled cardboard.

What's not to love?

I love it!!

I love them both!!

I've been planning on getting a bird feeder for a while, and I could definitely use a Bad Day Board.

What WONDERFUL GIFTS!!!

P.S. Don't you love how our kids see us, despite any flaws.
Eric gets really angry if he hears me or anyone else comment that cooking just isn't one of my better qualities.
He says I make Rice A Roni and Ramin Noodles better than ANYONE!! And he's very serious!!!!

I LOVE IT!! LOL!!

That bad day board is SO sweet. You really are teaching them well.

Now that cute little cupcake of yours not only enjoys painting but she also likes mosaics. What a fabulous job she did on that roof! I'm so impressed. I used to sell mosaic supplies and I LOVE making mosaics.

Both of their works of art are getting loud applause and standing ovations over here so be sure to pass it along. ;)

I just read adhd-jo's comments and cracking up over here.

Add me to the list. I love the gifts too. (Although I would dispute that you love coffee more than I do...but that's just a thing).

I need a bad day board. I think everyone does. :D

What gifts your girls shared with you...their talents and their love for you! The bird house is beautiful and the bad day board is awesome! Everyone needs one of those to start their day with...it's always nice to start your day off on a positive note to save it from being a "bad day!"

Love it!

Hi Sue,
I've been away from the blogosphere and it's so noce to stop by for a visit.

Wow! First of all, I love the birdhouse...and the color too. It's looks like the color of my VW bug!

Second, oh my! The Bad Day Board is the BEST present. I laughed out loud at the wonderfully sweet and honest way your daughter expressed her love for you. It's so funny to see ourselves through our kids eyes. I'm so impressed by your kids' creativity! (I'm sure they get that from you. :-) You're a great mom and it shows.

Blessings,
Kelli

On this Merry Christmas Night....

Merry Christmas, blog friends! I know you're wondering, "Did she finish painting her family room (finally....)??" (Nope!) * * * D oesn't this look like how our days are sometimes? Myriad things scattered about, unfinished. Trying to take a cozy, restful seat by the fire, but still that seat stays empty. We try to make things brighter, but the light strings don't quite have the power to make things clear for us. And we wonder how many coats it will take to cover up what had been there before, without splotches and unevenness. (Three may just be right--sigh....!) * * * We may have things unfinished. We may have "miscalculated" the use of our time. Or perhaps we were called away to other things for which we were needed, even if they weren't part of our plans. Even in our peaceful approach to Christmas, that seat of rest may be vacant. But the opportunity to "Be still...." doesn't always lie in a cozy sea

When I was 45....

I t was a very good year! (Yep, celebrating again! I hijacked my own blog--LOL!) The glass is half full, and things have never looked more browniful! Awesome day on tap.... sunshine, take-out barbecue for dinner, cake.... Thanks for celebrating with me! Enjoy.... ( Let it rise....One of my all-time favorite praise songs! )

L ong before we bloggers celebrated our first 100 posts, the psalmists provided us with theirs. In recognition of my 100th, let's celebrate by looking at the Bible's "Post #100" (a.k.a., Psalm 100, A Psalm for Thanksgiving or Thank Offering): Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Surprisingly, there is no direct Hebrew translation for the English word 'joyful' as used in this verse in the King James Version. That leaves things a bit open to interpretation. My study Bible (NASB) says 'joyful' is "a shout of loyalty and homage." The dictionary defines 'joy' with the word rejoicing, meaning "to be made glad again." 'Noise,' however, does come with a Hebrew equivalent, meaning "to split the ears with sound," as in to shout, shout for joy. Lands implies all the earth, the nations, the world. We, those of all nations, are to present to the Lord, out of our loyalty and homage to Him, joyful shouts that
