It's in the Wind, Part II

Bonita's comment on my last blog got me to think about a Part II.

She said, "Perhaps this is why we long to be the wind?" She quoted John 3:8.

"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it,
but do not know where it comes from and where it is going;
so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

"The wind blows where it wishes...." That would be our general tendency, would it not? We have an understood bloggy joke about being a 'whirling dervish,' but that's all based on the reality of our lives, isn't it?

There's more here. Jesus actually said this when He was talking with Nicodemus about being born again. Nicodemus kept asking 'How?' Jesus said by the Spirit, which works like the wind.

We can't see Him, but the presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer is undeniable. How else could we discern truth or direction? How would we know if we were being our own wind or if we were following God's will? And just as we can't control the wind, we can't control the work of the Holy Spirit either. God is in charge of both.

But, we can ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We can ask God to bring the winds of change that can transform us. We can ask God for the winds of renewal to unfurl the sails taking us in the direction He wants us to go. We can ask God for the winds of encouragement, to help us press on with gust-o!

The Answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind.... as surely as He creates it.

God infuses us with the breath of life, and we are truly alive when we know that He commands the winds and carries us by His Spirit.

Amen! I never thought about the breath of life being wind too, but it surely is. I love the way you think through things so deeply. You do it so I don't have to. LOL!

I also love the way you think things through so deeply, but so that I have more to consider. :)

This hit the spot this morning. Thank you my friend.

Oh - And you can always tell a creative person because they always want to take an activity that inspires them, and make adjustments. LOL! I do the same thing. :D I love your additions to the Prayer Warriors!

The answer is blowing in the wind. Like the wind blows the dead leaves off the trees, and the trees bud again in the spring, so the Spirit blows the things that cause death off of us (When we're willing to change), so that we too can be made new. Amen.

Standing out side when the wind is blowing, your hair is flying around and the leaves are raining down...that is a time when I can feel God's presence and his power. Maybe that's why I love the wind....of course I also love the whirling dervish feeling it gives to everything.

Love your thoughts. Amen! I love the scripture from John, too. Isn't it amazing how endlessly fascinating and life-giving God's word is?

Blessings,
